Powering up Archbishop Tenison's

Want to do your bit for the school, the environment, and your bank balance, too? Croydon Community Energy plans to install solar panels on Archbishop Tenison’s roofs. Between 42 and 143 kilowatts of panels could be installed, or 10-40 times the average capacity of a typical home rooftop system. It would supply around 85% of the school’s electricity.

To meet this aim, the group needs to raise significant capital – like other community energy groups have done for thousands of schools and other public buildings across the country. The school would benefit from having reliable, low-cost and low-carbon power, with investors receiving estimated returns of 5% per annum. Croydon Community Energy has already raised almost £50,000 toward the project, run in conjunction with two other sites in the borough, and is seeking between £120,000 and £340,000 to proceed.
