Archbishop Tenison's

Church of England High School

Archbishop Tenison's CE High School
Selborne Road

A welcome from the Chair of Governors

“Welcome!  It is my privilege to be the chair of governors of Archbishop Tenison’s Church of England High School where we aim to achieve academic excellence for each person as part of a Christian community.  I am proud to be able to say that the school has a truly distinctive Christian ethos which permeates through everything we do as a school community.  We are also fortunate to have a highly committed and capable staff team along with warm support from our families and local churches.”

The Governing Board is appointed in line with the Department for Education guidance for school governing boards to oversee the management of the school, and to set in place the framework for its effective operation.  The Governors help to bring perspectives from ordinary life and work with the staff, the Local Authority and the Church of England to seek to secure the best possible education for the children in the school.

The Governors are a group of committed local people representing the Church of England, the Local Authority, the staff (teaching and non-teaching) and the school's parents. The main governing Board is led by an elected Chair of Governors and meets termly.  To fulfil the strategic role of the Governors; Governor Committees meet regularly to monitor, challenge and evaluate progress towards achievement of the aims and policies of the school and regularly review the framework for the school in the light of that progress.

The Full Governing Board and its committees keep under regular review progress with the seven themes of the School Development Plan (see this report).
