RUSH UK – CURRENT NEWS

As many people will be aware: pupils, students, parents, carers and staff we have for many years been supporting a school called RUSH Academy in Kakamega in Kenya.

This year we have launched 2 fundraising appeals based on the current needs at RUSH, one for students and one for adults.year it would be very exciting if we could raise even more money than usual, to help develop a secondary school, which is in only its SECOND year. The school relies totally on the voluntary contributions and charity of others, such as those given by ourselves. The educators’ and charity leaders’ outstanding success and value have been proven by the success of its primary school.

Adults: Teacher Salaries

Due to the support of orphaned children, RUSH rarely receives the fees needed to pay for, among other things, teacher salaries. This is becoming an increasing strain due to the growing secondary school, which needs to employ two more teachers for the incoming upper 6th. Tenison’s have decided that the best way we can help with this is to act as a group. We propose that if 100 people from our community set up a monthly donation of £2.50 we can collectively pay for the new teachers (£250 pcm). If you are able to participate in this vision click here.

Students: Food

RUSH provides food for all it’s students. £12.40 pays for a child’s share of maze for a whole year. This year we are challenging our students to think of creative and meaningful ways to raise at least £12.40 to contribute to feeding a RUSH student. Fundraising events will take place all the way to Christmas.

Lastly

Students from the 6th form have recorded a song to raise money for the food appeal. Year 9 designed the cover and film studies students made the music video.
